Tsoko Nut Batirol

Tsoko or tsokolate is the Tagalog word for chocolate.
And when I hear tsokolate, it automatically means authentic
chocolate to me. Meaning it doesn't have milk or sugar,
simply pure chocolate ambrosia from cacao tablets.

The Batirol in their name means a pot and a wooden rod with
spikes, traditionally used in the Philippines to make hot chocolate,
introduced by Spaniards during the Spanish colonization.

I really came here to try their special Tsokolate Ah Batirol
and, as expected, it is divine. And the drink has
that slicked oil which is simply glorious, you
know it's done well. The drink is not thick, but I love it
because it means they didn't add corn starch or cream.
And I don't want corn starch in my drink.

 They use cacao tableas
from their own cacao farm in Leyte in central Philippines.
Tsokolate Ah Batirol will  guide you back to
your childhood when your mother or grandmother
made you that special treat that only she can make,
that special treat that you just can't forget the taste, at the same
time, you cannot find the words to describe it, but you
know that you adore it and you long to have it again.

I only wish that they paid more attention to the restaurant interior.
I would savor Tsokolate Ah Batirol more if it were a
homely, cozy place. Perhaps a traditional, Filipino design?
But, nevertheless, I love Tsokolate Ah Batirol.

I also had the sans rival cake, it was ok, delicious too, but since it
came from the refrigerator, the butter was too hard.
They also have a very nice mug, when the chocolate drink was not
that hot anymore, I loved hugging it with my hands, the warmth
was kind of cute and comforting for me.

They have chocolate cakes and Filipino pastries like ensaymada.
They offer very affordable lunches too, again Filipino dishes like tapa and longganisa.

This branch is at SM Fairview,
upper ground floor, Annex bldg.
