The Baby's Opera by Walter Crane

As a bookish girl, I enjoy spending an hour or two in a used book store.
Once inside, I am on the lookout
for the old ones, I love a good 'ol leather bound classic.
When I am at the bookstore, I love going to the children's section
and run my fingers through the books, pursuing old titles.
I adore children's books. Especially the ones with
photographs. The vintage ones are the best because the illustrations
are lovely, almost ethereal, and it's always a pleasure just
looking at them...

I found this one by the illustrious Walter Crane and it's certainly enchanting.
It has the lovely nursery rhymes that we all love since we
were little ones ourselves, and the music sheet illustrations
are divine. Mr. Crane is one of the celebrated great 3 of children's book
illustrators of his generation with my favorite Kate Greenaway
and Randolph Caldecott.

Do you love looking at the illustrations on books too?
What is your favorite?

besos,
M

  20. I love to read and I grew up in a toy store, my dad worked at one of those old fashion mom and pop toy shops, and I always looked through the children's books, many of which were classics, like this! There is definitely something special about them, especially the illustrations, like you said. Thanks so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
