A shy, naive, ladies' companion catches the eye of the wealthy widower Maxim de Winter. They fall in love and get married. At Manderley, it feels like the first Mrs. de Winter is still there and the servants still very loyal to her especially Mrs. Danvers who drives the second Mrs. de Winter mad as she finds out the secrets at Manderley.
